Re: (meteorobs) Persistent meteor trains + additional question

Mine was a -6 leonid in 2002 around 5:33 (that's 3:33 UT) that left a smoke
trail for about 5 minutes. It was already pretty close to sunset so perhaps
the meteor was brighter. It was difficult to estimate.
I once saw a an *Ion* train that persisted for over a minute! this is rare
isn't it? (I didn't see the meteor, I just saw it's train. It was a
sporadic) It was already the middle of night when I saw it, so the glow must
have been ions and not smoke lit by the sun.

And now I add another question: What was the most interesting meteor with
fragmentation that you have seen?
I have seen a magnitude 0 sporadic that had a very long path and broke in
two on the way !
I once also saw a very slow perseid near the horizon that for about two
seconds brightened and fainted a couple of times. It was very extraordinary.

Clear skies,
Shy
