I had a slow, but good three hour session of meteor observing last Sunday
morning, May 24/25, 2003. From 4 to 7 UT only 16 meteors were seen. Four
Sagittarids were seen, along with eleven Sporadics and one from the Southern
Apex. There was a slight haze, but an average LM=6.1 was recorded. Not great,
but not bad either. Actually, I was lucky to see stars between the periods of
rain that we've been having. It was also cool (36 deg. F.) so there were no
bugs. After I was done meteor watching, I did some binocular observing with my
15x70s. The transparency briefly reached 6.4, and the Milky Way got good. The
brighter half of the Cygnus loop was nice, but clouds quickly came in and ended
the show. Below is a brief breakdown of the sparse meteor activity seen.
