Greetings list,
I took advantage of a nice clear weekend night to do
an attempt at the Arietids visually, around their
peak time June 8. Being optimally placed in the
northern tropics, I suspect I had the best chances
to see them. I began my hour Teff at 3:45am local
time, which is when the radiant rose. Twilight began
to be noticed around 4:40am, so I got almost a full
hour of nice dark skies. One definite ARI and
another one which was either ARI/SPX, really no way
to differentiate, so I split it half/half. Not
really impressive ARI activity, but there was
something logged. Otherwise a mix of fainter
meteors, mainly SPO and ANT. Nothing brighter than
2, so it was a little tough to keep awake :(
Aloha,
Mike
