(meteorobs) NASA Science News: Glowing-white nighttime clouds



[Editor's Note: This reminds me of some experiments they did
 in the 1970s over the Everglades: but those clouds fluoresced
 in shades of green and orange, as my young eyes recalled it!
 Still, this could be an entertaining distraction for meteor

NASA Science News for June 20, 2003

A series of upcoming rocket launches will create glowing-white 
nighttime clouds visible from the eastern seaboard of the
United States. By studying the clouds, scientists hope to learn
more about the ionosphere -- a layer of Earth's atmosphere near
the edge of space.
