(meteorobs) June 24/25, 2003 meteor observation from Slovenia

I observed again from a site near Ljubljana (capital of Slovenia). I
wanted to do an allnighter but arrived to the site a bit late. I started
with the Sun at -19 degrees and ended with it at -17 degrees.

The observation started very slow with the first meteor recorded 29
minutes into the session. At times I even wondered if I would recognize a
meteor if it appeared. The next meteor took even more time, a magnitude 5
sporadic was spotted in the head of Draco 33 minuted after the first
meteor. 62 minutes with TWO meteors!? Fortunately the activity picked up
in the next minutes and I was quite busy plotting. The highlight of the
night was a beautiful slow orange sporadic meteor. This magnitude 0 meteor
shot through Cygnus breaking into several fragments.
What kept me alert during the lull period was the fact that I was
observing from the area where bears are frequently encountered so I
reacted (with adrenalin) to every rumbling that could indicate a bear.

Examination of plots revealed that 2 of the meteors were Sagittarids,
others were sporadic. I also checked the plots for any possible early June
Bootids, but none were found.

Clear skies!
