(meteorobs) Unusual Double Meteor

Hello List,

Last night at our star party on Oahu's north shore I saw a really unusual meteor that started out like any other of magnitude 2, but after fading completely from view (below mag 5) it re-appeared at magnitude 2 again for about an equal length before finally disappearing. It occured Jun 29 at 10:05UT, dropping down in the west. Its path lined up well with ANT, but it seemed a bit fast. I was not officially counting as it was near our pack-up time.

Any physical explanation for something like this? I am thinking it consisted of 2 layers of similar material separated by a different composition one, the middle one being such that it doesnt emit much light under vaporization?

Aloha & Clear skies,
Mike
