Has anybody considered a possible meteorological explanation for this
event, rather than a meteor? I know little or nothing about this topic, but
"ball lightning" is a widely discussed phenomenon commonly related to heavy
(thunder)storms. A quick search on Google (
http://www.google.com/search?q=ball+lightning ) may be useful.
Gary brought up the interesting possiblility of the meteor beeing seen
through the clouds, but this sounds rather unlikely to me when we are
talking about really heavy/thick monsoon- and thunder-clouds?
It seems hard to believe that the occurence of a bright trail below the
clouds, could go by without a report of heavy ground impact... (can anybody
do the calculations on this?)
Kind regards,
Geert
