(meteorobs) Perseids from France
Dear meteor observers,
I managed to make a short observing session this night. As I had to
work, I had to choose wether I wanted to observe the predicted current
maximum around 4 h UT, or the possible peak predicted by Esko Lyytinen
and Huan Meng at 0 h UT ( and maybe 0 h 38 UT ). I finally decided to
test Lyytinen and Meng predictions, and my session began at 22 h 21 UT
on August the 12th. But unfortunately, clouds covered the sky very
quickly at 23 h 26 UT, and two minutes later, Mars and the Moon weren't
visible any more :-((
Too bad I couldn't see if there were a maximum at 0 h, but happy to see
I had made the good choice : sky stayed covered until this morning,
after cirrus and fog invaded it.
The activity wasn't very high, as expected. With a lm of 5.09, I only
spot 13 Perseids, the highlight being a nice red -3 long Perseid.
I also noticed that most bright Perseids appeared to be red : did anyone
else noticed that ?
