(meteorobs) August 25/26, 2003 meteor observation from Slovenia

It rained during the day on Monday but it ceased in the evening and
we could even see stars to perhaps magnitude 4 now and then.
Most of the time, however, we were under thick fog layer. There
were rumors that there are clear skies everywhere around our base
so Mitja and I decided to check it and eventually even observe. We
drove for 30 kilometers but never managed to get above the fog. But
we did find a site that seemed good enough to try to observe. We
set about one kilometer from a brightly lit church and observed for
almost one hour before the fog lifted and became too thick to make
any useful observations.
I only recorded 8 meteors, one was a Perseid and one Northern
Delta Aquarid. Others were sporadic. The brightest meteor was a
magnitude -1 sporadic at 00:31 UT.

Clear skies!
