(meteorobs) September 1, 2003 Meteor Observations From California

Well I was out but the Alpha Aurigids did not bother showing up.
Only one member saw seen during the three hour session. This was
the worst display I have seen from this shower. Activity was also
down for the September Perseids. Both apexs were well represented.
The antihelion radiant was quiet expect for a quick flurry of activity
during the second hour which produced three slow meteors. There
was no real highlight of the session as nothing brighter than magnitude
zero was seen.

The first column gives the period watched stated in Universal Time (UT)
which is PDT + 7 hours. The second column gives the percent of that
particular hour actually spent observing the sky. The third column gives the
average limiting magnitude estimated during each period. The last several
columns list the activity seen during each period. I was facing northeast at
an altitude of 60 degrees during the entire session. No breaks were taken.
Time was lost for plotting and data entry tonight. AUR = Alpha Aurigids,
SPR = September Perseids (Delta Aurigids), ANT = Antihelion (Piscids),
NPX = Northern Apex, SPX = Southern Apex, and SPO = Sporadics
(random activity).
