Probably not, at least not against radiation.
But the sun is intense and even the lofty members of this board do not know all
the answers. Nor do they know all the possible effects of this
flare. So keeping the kids inside surely will not hurt, but it may
be a risk to send them outside. And even if it was 'just a little help' it
is better than none at all.
