  like a fireworks rocket before it explodes

  Split into at least two pieces - one large, one smaller, and shower of sparks

  From angle viewed, it appeared to passed through Orion and above the moon. 
Seemed to burn up and disappear at about 10 degrees to the left of and at about 
the same angle of elevation as the moon.
