(meteorobs) Meteor Obs. Nov. 23 - WVa

Screech Owl Hill Observatory, Mountain Meadows, West Virginia
             Lat. 385710N Lon. 0785544W - November 22/23, 2003

We had a good productive observing night on Saturday evening and Sunday
morning this past weekend. Many deep-sky objects were seen as well as comet
P2/Encke in the same binocular field as Brocchi's Cluster, and LINEAR T7 in
Perseus. The sky was beautifully clear most of the night, with the Zodiacal
Band becoming visible after 3:00 AM EST. In five hours of meteor observing,
from 6 to 11 UT, 102 meteors were seen. No fireballs were seen, but two -2,
and one -1 meteors were seen, all sporadics. Fairly good activity was seen
from a few radiants, with 12 Leonids, 9 Antihelions (2 NTA & 7 STA), 6 Alpha
Monocerotids, 13 Apex (7 NPX & 6 SPX), and a whopping 61 sporadics. Several
faint meteors were seen due to the generally excellent transparency. Below is
a brief breakdown of what was seen.
