Re: (meteorobs) Aurora images online
I grew up in Northern Ohio and saw many displays as a boy. Part of the
secret is recognizing signs of the beginning of a display and then
keeping your eye on it throughout the evening and even night. You
mentioned light colored clouds. I would call these luminescent clouds
but I think they are called S(Spot or Patch). These often occur early
in a display. More often under dark skies I have seen rays which look
like searchlights in the sky from beyond the horizon. However they take
on many forms and a really good display shows off all of them.
Unfortunately the good displays usually occur during Solar Maxima and
our current one is over though the sun is always packed with a few
surprises. Good luck keep trying and I don't think you will have to wait
the full eleven years for more activity.
