(meteorobs) Cloudy Backyard Quadrantids from East GA

For the second night in a row, I was chased from my site
by encroaching ground fog -- in addition to last night's
cloudy skies and the bright moonlight (at 3:30 am local time).
But when I arrived home, with temps a warm 56 degrees F,
the moon was behind the trees and clouds had pretty much
dispersed except for a thick, soupy, murky haze that kept
my LM's at +2 and +3 (depending on which part of the
sky you were looking at) for the first thirty minutes or so,
then things cleared out to a much more agreeable +4.5
during the latter half of the single hour's watch. I was forced
to end at 10:15 UT when clouds moved back in.

Normally I wouldn't have logged anything on a night with a
average LM of +3.2, but as Paul Jones and I had planned
a double station observation for the night, and since I *was*
actually having decent rates, I've gone ahead and created a
report. Two Quads were quite bright (-4 and -3) and of course
I saw nothing fainter than +3, but still managed to observe
18 meteors including 15 QUAs. Here's hoping that Paul
was at least equally fortunate down in St. Augustine.
