(meteorobs) bright fireball over Western Europe (11-12/3)



Hi,
 
About midnight (11-12/3), a bright fireball  appeared above Western Europe.
Are there any other observations from West and Southern Germany, Northeastern France  ??

Event 7 :  sporadic fireball on 11 march

 

-Date : 2004-03-11

-Location : Riemst (Tongeren- Belgium). Observer ; Benny Jackers (VVS), other people in Riemst (Belgium), Houtem-Vilvoorde (Belgium), Rohrbach (Austria).

-Time : 22.59 UT

-magnitude : brighter than full moon, lit up the fields with a purple glow

-duration : 4 seconds

-colours : purple ! 

-Train : yes

 -fragmentation : negative. 

-persistent train : yes.

-angular velocity : slow             or scale number : 2

-Sounds : negative 

-Remarks :

*Benny Jackers ;  only the brightest stars were visible at that moment (upcoming frontal clouds).  

Limited Magnitude (+- 0). The fireball appeared high in the west at +-80 degrees hight (Coma Berenices), crossed through Bootes and disappeared at 15 degrees altitude in Serpens.  

*Houtem – Vilvoorde ; 23.05 UT(?) - large and intense blue fireball (half the size of the full moon) – from western into eastern direction over an angle of 45 degrees

*Rohrbach (Austria). Observed by Karl Kaiser (AKM). +-24.00 MEZ. 7° WNW – magnitude –7/-8. intense green.

·        No decays were on schedule for that moment.

·        Track : Belgian Limburg into West Germany.
