Your Town/State/Country? Anola, Manitoba, Canada

Date of fireball? March 21, 2004

Time of fireball? 7:25 PM CST

What compass direction did the fireball appear from? ENE

What compass direction did the fireball DISAPPEAR from? SE

How long, in seconds, were you able to see it in the sky? 6-7 seconds

How many degrees off the horizon was it when it APPEARED?
(As a reference, a closed fist held at arm's length is
approximately 10 degrees.)
  40 degrees

How many degrees off the horizon was it when it DISAPPEARED? It was still
burning brightly when it disappeared behind trees to the SE of my location.

How bright did it appear?
Like a star, Venus, the Moon, or the setting Sun?
Venus-like...a very bright , large incandescent light.

Did it have any color(s)? started out white-yellow, then, when it lost a piece,
it turned a white-green.

Did it appear to fall apart as it went by? What did that look like?
A small piece fell from the main fireball (accompanied by a shower of small
streaks of fire) and fell toward the Earth below the main trajectory. The small
pieces burned up almost immediately - with orange colors - after separating from
the main fireball.

Did it leave a persistent streak in the sky after it was gone?
How long did that last?
I could not see any streak, as the night sky was fairly dark.

How fast did it move? Use a 1 to 5 scale, 1 being
VERY slow, and 5 being extremely quick.
  2

Did you hear a sound?
If yes, what was the time delay from sighting to sound?
  No sounds heard.

What is the closest Town/State to where you saw the fireball?
Anola, Manitoba, Canada, is located about 1 mile WSW of my location at the
time of the sighting.

Please put any additional remarks, sketches, drawings, etc. below:
I live about 30 km East of Winnipeg, near the town of Anola, Manitoba, Canada.

March 21, 2004 I was walking my dog about 7:25 CST (I wasn't wearing a watch)
walking Eastward when I saw a beautiful meteorite falling to Earth.

It was travelling north to south at about a 30 degree angle to the
horizon. I had it in sight for an extraordinary length of time, about
6-7 seconds in all.

It burned a white-yellow color at first, changing to a white-green color
about halfway through its trajectory. At about the same time that it
changed color, a piece separated from the main body and fell below the
main trajectory.

I had it in sight until it fell behind the trees to the East. I feel
that since I had it in sight so long it may well have landed on Earth. I
didn't hear any kind of noise associated with the meteorite, nor did I
hear any kind of explosion so, if it did hit, it must have been quite a
distance away from me.

I'm reporting this in case others reported seeing it and perhaps you are
researching it.
