Time of fireball? about 9:25pm


What compass direction did the fireball appear from? southwest


What compass direction did the fireball DISAPPEAR from? northeast


How long, in seconds, were you able to see it in the sky? 5 or so


How many degrees off the horizon was it when it APPEARED?
(As a reference, a closed fist held at arm's length is
approximately 10 degrees.)

How bright did it appear?
Like a star, Venus, the Moon, or the setting Sun?
  size between venus and moon


Did it have any color(s)? orange/yellow


Did it appear to fall apart as it went by? What did that look like?
  not that I remember.  fireball with smoke trail


Did it leave a persistent streak in the sky after it was gone?
How long did that last?
  yes, but thin cloud cover made it hard to tell.



How fast did it move? Use a 1 to 5 scale, 1 being
VERY slow, and 5 being extremely quick.

If yes, what was the time delay from sighting to sound?
  no


What is the closest Town/State to where you saw the fireball?
  Las Vegas, NV

  While driving north in the southwest side of the Las Vegas Valley, an 
orangish/yellow ball caught my eye.  At first I thought it was a plane because 
of direction and rate of speed.  Then it burst into flames, with a few shorter 
bursts following.  Was driving on busy road and unfortunately I couldn't pull 
over or watch as much as I would have liked to.  Am very interested to know more 
about it as it was one of the neatest things I've ever seen!
