(meteorobs) obs.period.2004.04.19-22

My greetings.
Two observations this time. The first was a pre-Lirids observation.
A coule of meteors during 40 seconds. The sky
transparency was quite far from the best.
It was hazy, so lm=4.5. Both meteors appeared within a minute. They
were quite bright and slow. It became cloudy
after 40 minutes from the start so I had to stop observation.

After that observation an atmospheric front came to Novosibirsk which
totally clouded it out for the next two days, with
strong snowfall on the last day. Thus the night of the 21-22 April,
the most close to Liris maximum, was lost for me. On the
22th the sky finally cleared and gave rather good conditions during
the second observation with lm=5.6. However, the Lirids
activity turned out below my expectations. Seven meteors were seen
during nearly 2 hours and only two shower members among
them. The main show was made by sporadic activity, there were several
bright meteors. One of them had the brightness of Jupiter.
It came from south, flied for 3 seconds. I saw how it was braking by
the atmosphere, its velosity decreased by divisor 2 during the flight.
It was throwing away many small sparkles and leaving a slight train, which
remained however less than a second.
