                   Post-Maximum Lyrids - April 24/25, 2004

We were lucky to have a few hours of pretty good conditions at Mountain
Meadows, in West Virginia to see a few post maximum Lyrids. We were also
hoping to see comets C/2004 F4 Bradfield and C/2002 T7 LINEAR in the morning
sky, but clouds moved in after 3:30am EDT and put an end to that hope. From
4 to 7 hours UT, I was able to see 26 meteors, only four of which were Lyrids.
The best Lyrid was seen casually at 7:32 UT, when I was taking down the 20-
inch Dob. It was 0 magnitude and had a beautiful blue-green color. This was
the best meteor of the night, which I was luckly to look up at and see during
a break in the increasing clouds. Anyway, below is a brief breakdown of my
meteor observations.
