Dave,
    IMHO, no.  I consider many of the wide field objects quite stunning.
(But just as there are less than thrilling narrow field objects, there are
less than thrilling wide fields as well.)  They are just relatively
unknown - and in many scopes unknowable.  Sometimes half the fun is
stumbling across the real gems when you are observing objects that you can
find no previously written observations of.
