(IAAC) Star clusters not included in Lund catalog

Hello,

I'm an advanced amateur ( for a while.. ) that does some
research through the internet.
Recently, I collected a large ammount of star cluster data,
and the results is presented here as a list of obscure clusters
( not in the 5 th ed. of Lynga's catalog ).
As you'll see, I included some of my own discoveries, also
with comments, as well as the results of my e-mail contacts
with the astronomers Brent Archinal and Brian Skiff.
Please, let me know about your impressions of these clusters
( including my discoveries! ).

Here's the list :

comment : There are another unstudied NGC cluster candidates
in the B. Archinal monograph No 1 of the Webb Society
( 229 misidentified or missing NGC clusters ). The
three objects above aren't included in the mentioned
monograph.

Brent Archinal comment :

"...my guess is that many of these objects
were too loose to be considered "clusters" by Lynga.
It's also possible that Lynga just somehow missed them
since he apparently started his catalogue work about the
time these papers were published. ..."

> Is this object in your list?
> Do you know about others astronomers that saw it?

First off, this group appears to be southwest (not east) of Dolidze
24. Brian gives an improved position for Dolidze 24 of (2000.0) 06 44
44 +01 45. Do 24 does appear as a moderately impressive group of
brighter scattered stars on the DSS.

As to your group, it does look fairly impressive but small. I would
guess that if it were larger and brighter, it would have been
catalogued by now already as a cluster! Anyway, as with many of the
objects you've pointed out, there's really no way to tell for sure one
way or the other whether there's a physical association without
detailed observations. A color-magnitude plot of the above data might
tell you a little, but as Brian has pointed out the USNO-A1.0 colors
aren't very well calibrated so it wouldn't be conclusive one way or
the other.

There is by the way an IRAS source that may be associated with this
group, although it's position is off a little to the southeast. This
is (from SIMBAD) IRAS 06405+0142 at (2000.0) 06 43 06.9 +01 39 17. =

There's also a nice triple star in the field to the northwest (HD 48279
=3D ADS 5364 =3D STF 956).

Anyway, no, I haven't run across mention of this group anywhere else. =

Also SIMBAD lists only one reference for Dolidze 24, so I suspect that
it has been too little studied for anyone to have noticed this group
nearby.

All I can really suggest is that you include this on your (growing)
list of possible clusters and asterisms.

I hope you enjoy this information.
