Tom (and others) -

I don't see any response on the netastrocatalog-announce list in answer
to your question (above) so thought I'd reply here.

If you need to know where an astronomical acronym originates from or
need to know the actual source of a catalog, a good reference is the IAU
Nomenclature web page at http://vizier.u-strasbg.fr/cgi-bin/Dic-Simbad.

Entering "Hubble" there immediate shows (as one possibility) his list of
objects in NGC 6822. The preferred designation for this list is [H25],
and the full reference is:

Hubble, E. P. (1925). "NGC 6822, a remote stellar system."
_Astrophysical Journal, v. 62, pp. 409-433.

You should be able to find a copy of this in any large university or
observatory library. (It is not yet available on-line via the ADS.)
The web site also says that all 25 of the objects have been incorporated
into the SIMBAD database (at http://simbad.u-strasbg.fr/Simbad).

Anyway, hope this helps.

Regards,
- Brent

P.S. Please send a copy of any replies to me directly as I only receive
the (delayed) digest version of this list.
