(IAAC) Possible Supernova near NGC 3198?

Thought the following might be of interest to deep-sky buffs. This object, IF it
turns out to be an extragalactic supernova, should get to mag 12 or brighter.
NGC 3198, which was the site of "Wild's Supernova" in 1966, is a bright, barred
spiral with a very high inclination (near edge-on). It is located 3 degrees due
north of the two "toe-stars" (lambda and mu) in the rear paw of Ursa Major.

Clear skies!

Subject: Photometric sequence near NGC 3198

Listed below is BV photometry (from an unpublished source) for four stars
close to NGC 3198, which should prove useful no matter what type of variable
the new candidate turns out to be. These are extracted from my large
photometric reference file. In the last column I give R magnitudes derived
directly from the BV data, which should be reliable to within a few hundredths
of a magnitude.
