(IAAC) Sky Commander and Megastar
I've decided it is time to put in some time getting Megastar 4.0.27, to work
with the Sky Commander, Version 128K 3.33, which I use on my 18 inch
dobsonian. I'm running Megastar on a Dell Inspirion 3000 Laptop with a
Pentium 200mHz MMX processor and 48mb Ram using the interface cable supplied
with the Sky Commander when I originally purchased the unit.
I was unsuccessful in my attempts this evening and ask if you have any
advice or recommendation you can make on the matter.
Protocol: Digital Readout - Alt/Az. Polling Delay - 200 or 350 ms.
1. Comm Port / Megastar Baud rates: 2400/2400.
Select|Local Synch: Small white circle is displayed upper left hand corner
of screen. Circle does not move with movement of telescope.
Select|Start Link: Sky Commander Readout Displayed, 5 seconds later Error
Message is displayed: "Communications Error."
2. Comm Port / Megastar Baud rates: 4800/4800.
Select|Local Synch: No response.
200ms delay: Select|Start Link: Sky Commander Readout Displayed, 2 seconds
later Error Message is displayed: "Communications Error."
350ms polling delay: Select|Start Link: Sky Commander Readout Displayed, 5
seconds later Error Message is displayed: "Communications Error."
3. Comm Port / Megastar Baud rates: 9600/9600.
Select|Local Synch: No response.
200ms polling delay: Select|No response.
350ms polling delay: Select|Start Link: Sky Commander Readout Displayed, 3
seconds later Error Message is displayed: "Communications Error."
4. Comm Port / Megastar Baud rates: 19200/14400.
Select|Local Synch: No response.
350ms polling delay: Select|Start Link: Error Message is displayed: "Error
Building DCB." Select|Disconnect: Small white circle is displayed upper left
hand corner of screen. Circle does not move with movement of telescope.
Restarted Megastar, selected Current Parameters not saved in Megastar
shutdown sequence.
200ms polling delay: Select|Start Link: Communications Setup Message
displayed. Selected|OK: Error Message is displayed: "Error Building DCB."
