(IAAC) *ANOTHER* brightish Supernova, in Cetus...

What an amazing Supernova streak we are having this Season!

This one's in an "anonymous" galaxy JUST on the Cetus-Pisces border.
The host galaxy should be easy to locate about 2o N of iota Cet. If
the SN holds true to discovery brightness estimates, it should be in
range of mid-size scopes under good skies once the moon cooperates!

Clear skies all,
Lew Gramer

Dear SN watchers,

Sorry, I have sent a material under editting. Please supersede it
with this.

According to IAUC 7211, LOSS KAIT team has discovered a supernova in
Piscis-Cetus border. This supernova, 1999cw, is discovered and
confirmed on June 28.5 and 29.5 UT, respectively. The position is:
R.A. = 0h20m01s.46, Decl. = -6o20'03".6 (2000.0), which is about 21"
east and 1".5 south of the nucleus of the host galaxy MCG -01-02-001 =
PGC 1288. The host is SBa galaxy, and the supernova locates on the
edge of the disk.

Reported magnitudes by discoverer is about 14.2 (both on discovery
and confirmation image), which is quite brighter than the estimated
value of normal SNeIa maximum from the recession velocity of the host
galaxy (3725 km/s from CfA catalog; vsnet-chat 2047). It can be
caused by the peculiar motion of the host, or by the peculiar nature
of this supernova. Followup magnitude estimate (and the spectroscopy)
is strongly encouraged.

Sincerely Yours,
Hitoshi Yamaoka, Kyushu Univ., Japan
