Re: (IAAC) Obj: Unkn own - Inst: aperture=3.5 700mm Focal Length

Hi Bob

Ya we had great skies last night, and expect to have it again tonight.  For the last 2 weeks my scope has been sitting under a canvas idling.

Whatever I seen was a very large fuzzy compared to all the stars around it.  It looked similar to M42 as far as the fuzziness goes.  I did filter it to see if any stars was within or behind it but didn't see any.  I am excited about this!!  This is the first object that I have found and have not positivily ID'ed yet.

I am going to spend all my time tonight charting the part of the sky it is in to hopefully get an idea what it is I was/will be looking at.

BTW, I counted 17 satellites pass overhead last night as well as seen 8 meteorites.  A record number for 1 night for me.  Hopefully tonight will be just as clear.

My NGC/IC List Generator doesn't give anything on 4622. Now there is a Messier near by. M107 I believe(didn't  look to be sure). It should be pretty bright. Looks like you had a real good sky. Love those fuzzies! By the way, there is no such thing as a newey question. All questions have a value. You had me digging and I didn't come up with an exact answer.
