Re: (IAAC) Obj: NGC 7000 (North America nebula, HV-37, LBN47, Sh2-117) - Inst: 4 1/4" newtonian

Here is a pair of observations from two different expert observers, which show a
marked similiarity in impressions, despite a significant difference in aperture
used. With a 4.25" scope, Sue French notes, "Outline, especially Central America
region quite clear." And sure enough with a 14.5" telescope Geoff Chester sees,
"The most striking feature is the 'Gulf of Mexico', which is like a deep black
void with the nebulosity very sharply defined."

Clearly, there is interesting observing to be done with nothing more than an
"Astroscan-class" instrument, and a little patience! Clear skies,
