Subject: SuperNova in Virgo

Hi Everyone,

	There's a newly discovered Supernova in IC 4221(Virgo). Something to
look for if you're prowling around near there. It was fairly bright at CCD
Mag 14.1 on the 23rd of March. Have you ever noticed that Supernovae and
Novae only seem to be announced between half and full moon ?!? This is from
the AAVSO.....

1313-14  SUPERNOVA 2002bs IN IC 4221 (VIRGO)

We have been informed by the Central Bureau for Astronomical Telegrams
(IAU Circular 7861) that J. Y. Wei, Y. L. Qiu, H. L. Cao, J. Wang, and
J. Y. Hu, of the Beijing Astronomical Observatory (BAO) have discovered an
apparent supernova in IC 4221 at CCD magnitudes of around 15.5 on
March 11.73 UT and around 14.1 on March 23.73 UT. The finding was made on
unfiltered CCD images taken with the BAO 0.6-m telescope.

The team reports that the supernova is located at the center of galaxy
at:
     R.A. = 13h 18m 30s.30   Decl. = -14o 36' 31".8   (2000.0)

Here's a finder/comparison chart.
