Description:
This dim little pair was surprisingly easy to spot with
averted vision, near a very distinctive chain of mag 7-9
stars S and SE of 73 Leo. (73 is midway between Iota and
Theta Leonis). The light of the two galaxies had a funny
tendency to combine in averted vision (in spite of a 20'
separation between their cores), but with concentration
the pair could be seen as distinct, with even a hint of
their different orientations (perhaps helped by memory!)
No sign of nearby group-member ngc3628 could be seen.
