Description:
EASILY found under these conditions, in the same field of
view with Delta Geminorum at 20x. "Blinking" with a UHC
(moving the filter in and out of the light path to make
the planetary "blink") strongly confirmed that the tiny,
BRIGHT non-stellar object was indeed the planetary. The
OIII filter actually showed the halo of 3242 at 20x! No
color could be seen in this normally VERY blue object at
any power, with or without filters. At 60x, especially
with the OIII filter, a "layering" of the nebulosity was
just apparent, while the halo appeared quite bright and
large with averted vision. Although direct vision would
have probably been necessary to see the "disc within an
annulus" shape of this pretty planetary as seen in larger
scopes, it was still a very intriguing sight!
