Description:
At 100X with no filter I saw M97 as:
Bright, pretty large, round and somewhat brighter
in the middle. The "eyes" of the Owl could only
be seen with averted vision and only held for 10%
of the time. Going to 150X and using the UHC filter,
the eyes were much more prominent. At 220X with no
filter that was one star involved, a very faint,
maybe 13.5 magnitude star at the southern edge of
the nebulosity. There is a brighter, elongated
area between the eyes, it is more prominent with
averted vision and higher powers.
