(IAAC) Obj: NGC2392, Eskimo Nebula - Inst: Orion R200SS 8" f4.5 Newtonian; GP equatorial mount; Sky Sensor 2000
Observer: Andy Hochstetler
Your skills: Intermediate (some years)
Date/time of observation: 1998-Feb-16 0100 UT
Location of site: Glendale, Arizona (Lat 112.13 W, Elev 33.55 N)
Site classification: Urban
Sky darkness: 4.0 <Limiting magnitude>
Seeing: 5 <1-10 Seeing Scale (10 best)>
Moon presence: None - moon not in sky
Instrument: Orion R200SS 8" f4.5 Newtonian; GP equatorial mount; Sky Sensor 2000
Magnification: 100x; 300x
Object(s): NGC2392, Eskimo Nebula
Category: Planetary nebula
Data: mag 10.00 size 0.7"
Position: RA 07:29.08 DEC 20:55.12 N
The nebula was obvious at 100x using the 9mm Nagler. The central star
was only visible using averted vision (if really there at all). At
300x using the 9mm Nagler and 3x barlow, contrast was lost and the
view was not nearly as good. Still, the nebula was visible however no
detail was visible.
Without the benefit of clearer and darker skies, I was unable to say
much about this object.
