(IAAC) King 21 - 8inch F/10 (an interesting one...)

Object data: v9.8 - diam.2.5' - trumpler type III2m - 15 stars of p10: and
fainter
RA/DE: 23h49.9m, +62°43'
Description: a nice cluster that I recommend: faint and small, centered on
2 "central" stars of mag10 on an granulous and nebulous background; the
overall shape reminds a very open barred-spiral nebula (or a wide S or
integral symbol), the main bar is about 5' and 1.7' thick; one of the two
mag10 stars at the center is double (a mag.12 companion lies close (about
50") to the East; the "S" extremities are brighter and seems granulous. A
mag9 star is at 14'SSE [Guide says HD223649, v8.9, sp.F8); strange and nice
cluster indeed that doesn't fit the conventional look of these objects
(group of separated stars). If someone else has observed this object, I
would like to hear his comments about it (I will check the DSS shortly...)

binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
