Description:
Stunning!!! The OIII filter subdues the central cluster but brings out
a wealth of detail in the nebula which spans about 1.5 degrees. Much
large-scale mottling seen. A broad, faint patch extends ESE about 40'.
Brighter patches hug the N, W, and SW sides of the cluster. Central
void dark and irregular with southernmost stars of the cluster
embedded in nebulosity. Void about 20' wide.

Without a filter, the OC has 5 bright and a few fairly bright stars
arranged in 2 parallel curved lines. About 40 fainter stars cluster
around this, many spilling over into the nebulosity.
