Object: K 1-17 (PK 51+6 1; PN G051.5+06.1)
Category: Planetary Nebula
Constellation: SGE
Object data: Vmag=3D15.2; dim.58"x45"; type IV; central * of Vmag=3D18.6;
discovered by Kohoutek (1963).
RA/DE: 16h27.5m, +27=B054' (2000); Uranometria 114

Description: at 211x and UHC, medium to large PN, round and homogeneous
with ill-defined edges, extremely faint, never seen without filter; seen
with UHC or OIII from 125x to 312x; estimated diameter of about 52"; UHC
and OIII filters have both a small contrast gain (but real) and Hbeta is of
no help at all; 2 stars of mag14 and 15 are to the N of the nebula.

I can provide a scanned drawing of K 1-17 to anyone who can read the binhex
encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
