RA/DE: 21h14.0m, +47=B045' (2000); Uranometria 85;
Description: at 400x + OIII, medium sized PN, extremely faint; homogeneous
with ill-defined edges; round and about 48" in diam.; never seen without
filter; UHC has a slight contrast gain and OIII a good one; a mag14 star
stand against the SE border and another of mag11 is 2.5' from the ENE
limits of the nebula.
Note: CCD images are worth trying on this one because Halpha line is 1.5
stronger than OIII lines (in fact the nebula looks great on DSS images as
they were taken with a red sensible combination on the Palomar Schmidt in
the 50s).
I can provide a scanned drawing of Sh 1-89 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
