Object: M 1-79 (PK 93-2 1; PN G093.3-02.4)
Category: planetary nebula
Constellation: CYG
Object data: Vmag=3D13.2; dim.39"x27" (60"x41" according to IDB); central
star ?; discovered by Minkowski in 1946; ELCAT: OIII [496+501nm]=3D 11 x
Hbeta [486nm]
RA/DE: 21h37.0m, +48=B057' (2000); Uranometria 86;

Description: at 145x, small to medium sized PN, very faint; homogeneous and
better seen with OIII filter; somewhat elongated NE-SW, estimated on
drawing at about 31"x26"; a mag.15 star is 10" from the SE border; 3 stars
of mag13 are "covering" the PN at about 30" to N, NW and W; a mag9 star is
at 6'S. This nebula is surrounded with faint stars.

I can provide a scanned drawing of M 1-79 to anyone who can read the binhex
encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
