Description:
NGC 2355 is seen in the 11X80 finder as a tiny fuzzball that
is next to a 7th magnitude star. At 100X in the 13" f/5.6
this cluster is pretty bright, pretty small, pretty rich and
considerably compressed. I counted 26 stars all on top of
a fuzzy background that is easy with averted vision.
Powering up to 150X shows 32 stars in a cluster that fills
50% of the field of view. What was a double star at lower
power now shows itself to be a triple with a delicate 13th
magnitude companion, the main pair is a nice yellow and blue.
All the stars within the cluster are resolved.
