Personal "rating" (at this aperture, and sky condition): B/B-
This is an interesting "pair" of galaxies. I have listed the data for
the Cocoon galaxy, ngc 4490 primarily above. The two are almost at
right angles to each other... I'd say about 80 degrees between them. NGC
4485 lies not far off the end of 4490, forming an upside down L in the
eyepiece.
Larger 4490 was a plump elongated galaxy, somewhat football shaped,
with a brighter elongated core. The core did not look 100% parallel
with the axis of the galaxy. Nice because of the pairing. Best at medium
power on up.
