Object: Baade 1 (PK 171-25.1, PK 171-25 1, PN G171.3-25.8, ARO 87)
Category: planetary nebula
Constellation: TAU
Object data: Vmag=3D13.9 (Bmag=3D15.1); dim.40"x40" (54"x54" according to ID=
B);
type IV ; central star of Vmag=3D17.2; discovered by Baade in 1935; ELCAT:
[OIII, 496+501nm] =3D 7 x [Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 05h06.6m, +39=B008' (2000); Uranometria 65

Description: at 145x with OIII, small to medium sized PN, very faint, fuzzy
edges, estimated diameter og about 45" (on drawing), a little brighter
towards the center, without central star; the PN is not visible at
45x+OIII, seen at the limit at 74x+OIII, suspected at 125x without filter,
invisible at 312x without filter; the OIII has a very good contrast gain
and UHC has a slight one.

I can provide a scanned drawing of Baade 1 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
