=46ilters used: OIII, UHC, Hbeta
Object: Abell 12 (PK 198-06.1; PN G198.6-06.3; PK 198-6 1; ARO 220)
Category: planetary nebula
Constellation: ORI
Object data: Vmag=3D12.4; Bmag=3D13.9; dim.37"x37"; type ?; central star of
Vmag=3D19.1; discovered by Abell in 1955; ELCAT: [OIII, 496+510nm] =3D 16 x
[Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 06h02.4m, +09=B039' (2000); Uranometria 181

Description: at 211x and OIII, medium sized PN; between faint and medium in
brightness, round and homogeneous with ill-defined edges, estimated
diameter of about 29" (on drawing); Mu ORI of mag4 (white or maybe
yellowish) is too close at 50"E and you have to move it out of the field to
see the PN better; UHC has a slight contrast gain, OIII a good one and
Hbeta has no effect.

I can provide a scanned drawing of Abell 12 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works sometimes with other
configurations...
