Object data: Vmag=13.8; Bmag=14.8; 34"x34" (28.5"x28.5" for IDB); type IV;
central star of Vmag=16.4; discovered by Denning between 1888 and 1894 (as
a PN by Abell in 1955).
RA/DE: 22h42.80m, +80°27.4' (2000)
Date and UT of observation: 08 May 1992, about 04H00 UT
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual in UMi): 6.0 with averted vision
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 2
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): 3
Moon up (phase?): no
Instrument: Meade SCT 8"/203mm, F/10
Magnification: 87-145x
Filters used: UHC, OIII

Description: at 87x and UHC, visible as a very small nebulous patch, very
faint; at 100x and UHC, better seen, somewhat elongated; at 145x and OIII,
still quite faint, elongated about E-O, estimated to be 35"x27" on drawing;
a mag 7 star lies 5' to the E.

I can provide a scanned drawing of IC 1454 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works quite often with other
configurations...
