central star of Vmag=16.4; discovered by Denning between 1888 and 1894 (as
a PN by Abell in 1955); ELCAT: [OIII, 496+501nm] = 14 x [Hbeta, 486nm].

Instrument: Coulter 445mm/17.5" F/4.5
Magnification: 211-400x
Filters used: UHC, OIII, Hbeta

Description: at 211x, medium sized PN, medium brightness, round without
central star, quite sharp edges; seen from 74x to 400x without filter;
portions of ring are seen at 400x and OIII filter; UHC provides a small
contrast gain, OIII a good one and Hbeta none; 2 mag15 stars are on the NE
edge; estimated diameter of about 40"; a yellow mag7 star is 4' to the E.

I can provide a scanned drawing of IC 1454 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works quite often with other
configurations...
