Your skill: advanced (many years)
Object: IC 1747 (PK 130+01.1; PN G130.2+01.3; ARO 91)
Category: planetary nebula
Constellation: CAS
Object data: Vmag=12.0; Bmag=13.6; 13"x13"; type IIIb; central star of
Vmag=15.8; discovered by Fleming in 1905; ELCAT: [OIII, 496+501nm] = 16 x
[Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 01h57.59m, +63°19.3' (2000)
Date and UT of observation: 24 December 1992, early evening
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual in UMi): 6.00 with averted vision
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 1
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): 3
Moon up (phase?): no
Instrument: Meade SCT 8"/203mm, F/10
Magnification: 80-145x
Filters used: OIII, prism

Description: located at 80x with the prism like a mag12.5 star among
stellar streaks; just nebulous at 87x and 145x when one knows where to
look; stellar at lower powers; good contrast gain at 145x and OIII filter:
more nebulous; at 290x and OIII, nice nebula, oval in shape along a NNW-SSE
axis, homogeneous; estimated to be 15"x10". Located inside a triangle of
faint stars (mag13-14) to the NNW, SW and E in a 2' area.

I can provide a scanned drawing of IC 1747 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works quite often with other
configurations...
