Description:
Humason 1-2 (PN G086.5-08.8) is a small, 12th magnitude planetary nebula located
some 3 degrees east of Sigma Cygni. I used magnifications of 118 (to locate the
proper field), 249 (with an O-III filter), and 259x (with and without an Orion
Ultrablock filter) to find this somewhat elusive object. Hu 1-2 is one of the
obscure planetary nebulae featured in Jay McNeil's August 1999 Sky & Telescope
article.
