Object data: Vmag=10.1; Bmag=12.2; 87"x42" [193x118" in IDB]; type III+VI;
central star of Vmag=15.6; discovered by Méchain in 1780; ELCAT: [OIII,
496+501nm] = 16 x [Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 01h42.30m, +51°34.7' (2000.0)
Date and UT of observation: 27 December 1992
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual in UMi): -
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 1
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): 3

Instrument: Meade SCT 8" (203mm), F/10
Magnification: 45-145x
Filters used: -
Description: at 145x, easy PN, bright and large, clearly bipolar with an
strangled middle area; with OIII, good contrast gain, the ansae are
starting to show themselves extending from the main elongated body of the
PN (about 2x1' in NE-SW axis); a faint extension going ESE from the SW lobe
(BTW the brightest) is particularly evident (40x30"); the strangled middle
area is only 53" large; with the extensions, the overall is about 2.5x1.5';
a mag7 star is 14'ESE, mag10 at 11'S and 10'WSW, a mag12 2.2'WSW and
2.2'NNW; a mag13.5 is on the ESE side of the SW lobe.

encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try

configurations...
