Object data: Vmag=11.3; Bmag=12.6; 8"x6"; type II; central star of
Vmag=15.4  (Bmag: 14.6); discovered by Fleming in 1904; ELCAT: [OIII,
496+501nm] = 16 x [Hbeta, 486nm].
RA/DE: 22h23m55s, +50°58.0' (2000.0)
Date and UT of observation: 16 August 1993
Location & latitude: La Clapiere Obs. (France, latN44 40 00, longE06 27 36)
Site classification: rural, alt.1650m (5500ft)
Limiting magnitude (visual in UMi): -
Transparency (1 to 5 - best to worst): 2
Seeing (1 to 5 - best to worst): 3
Moon up (phase?): no
Instrument: Meade SCT 8" (203mm), F/10
Magnification: 80-310x
Filters used: prism, OIII

Description: at 80x with prism, located as a stellar dot of mag11; at 312x,
slightly nebulous, brighter in the center; slightly better with OIII;
mag10.5 star at 2'S; mag10 star (double with mag14 companion 15"SE) at 2.5'
ENE; the PN's diameter must be less than 10".

I can provide a scanned drawing of IC 5217's field to anyone who can read
the binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
