Description: at 145x, easy, bright with OIII filter, large, about 210x192",
oval in a NW-SE axis; annular (ring thickness of about 52"); central star
of mag10 obvious; UHC gives a good contrast gain and OIII a very very good
one; brighter areas on a 1/5th quadrant to the SE of the central star and
on a 1/6th quadrant to the NW; mag14 star 35" from the N edge;
the PN appears annular with the follwing combinations:
with averted vision: 45x+OIII, 74x+UHC, 145 without filter,
with direct vision at 87x+OIII, 312x without filter.

I can provide a scanned drawing of NGC 1514 to anyone who can read the
binhex encoding of Eudora (for Mac); just mail me to try
(ypothier@abi.snv.jussieu.fr), it works quite often with other
configurations...
