Description:
This Pn was as difficult an object as any I have encountered
before. This extremely faint, extremely small planetary is tucked in
the NE quadrant of the fine globular M15. At various medium powers
blinking an O-III, the elusive Pn was undetectable for over a period
of two hours. Finally, once the gc was near transit and the seeing
stabalized dramatically, I was able to discern a very faint blip that
responded very well to the O-III at a power of 588x. After blinking
many times, I knew this was the Pn. It was circular to oval with a
greyish/green hue. No detail was evident other than an uneven
texture. Once found, this object has been pretty easy to detect in the
22". However, I strongly encourage a good close up of M15 highlighting
Pease 1. Star hopping is to be expected within this gc!
